What is an amigurumi?

The term amigurumi (crocheted doll) is a combination of two Japanese words, ami, “crochet” and nuigurumi, stuffed doll. It is an art that consists of crocheting small dolls using the crochet technique.

The ancestors of modern Japanese believe that these dolls help people protect their homes and also use them as amulets. They are part of the idea of ​​making the heart smile through the culture of kawaii, a term that could be translated as cute, tender, adorable and is applied to amigurumis, fashion, appearance and even personal habits and behaviors. The Japanese use tenderness in a wide variety of situations where, based on aesthetic values, they connect with other people and wish them the best by expressing feelings such as sympathy, appreciation, relaxation, affinity, interest.

Beyond their decorative or recreational use, the goal of amigurumis is to nourish the childlike spirit that we all carry within. According to tradition, each amigurumi has a “soul” that makes it the companion and confidant for life of its owner, providing protection and comfort in times of stress and sadness.

These figurines are objects of attachment linked to concepts of friendship, complicity and company. They provide protection and security to their owner. In some cases they are used as personal amulets and also in homes, businesses and workplaces. In Japan it is common to see them in offices next to computers as a personal adornment whose function is to remind their owner to breathe, smile and take a break.

I have never crocheted before, can beginners crochet your kits?

Of course! Our beginner kits are aimed at people who have never crochet4ed before and want to learn to crochet, you could be next!

Can children learn with your kits?

Of course! Our kits are made for children +12 years, but younger children can learn too. It all depends on how easily they pick up new things and their hand-eye coordination. They will also need to follow videos/photos and written content.

Can a left-handed person crochet with your kits?

Yes! All of our beginner kits come with step-by-step guides for both right- and left-handed people, as well as our video tutorials are available for both right- and left-handed people.

What’s included in each kit?

Each kit comes with enough materials to make one amigurumi:

  • Step-by-step guide with video tutorials showing you how to crochet your amigurumi.
  • Wool/yarn in corresponding colors.
  • Stuffing.
  • Wool sewing needle.
  • Stitch markers.
  • 10mm safety eyes.
  • Crochet hook (optional and at extra cost).

I’ve never picked up a needle. What is the best kit to start with?

You can check out our most popular Snuglies, but all of our beginner kits are super easy for someone who has never crocheted before! Our snugliers recommend Coco the bunny, Rufus the dog, Pepe the pig, or Pedro the bear to get started 🙂

Do I need a crochet hook?

Yes, you do need one to crochet your amigurumi. If you don’t have one (or don’t have one in the right size), remember to select the “Add crochet hook” option when purchasing your kit.

Please note that beginner kits use a different size crochet hook than intermediate crocheter kits.

What is the yarn that comes with the kits made of?

Our yarn is 75% cotton and 25% nylon. This yarn is woven to make it easier for you to learn how to crochet.

How long does it take to crochet a beginner kit?

Each of us crochets at a different speed. Our beginners have told us that it takes them between 3 and 8 hours to finish their amigurumi.

  • Select your Snuglie.
  • Type in the password. You’ll find it on the back of the card that came with your kit.

I want to gift a kit. Will they have access to the pattern and tutorials?

Yes! The directions to the pattern and tutorials will be on the card that comes with the kit. No need to forward any emails 😊

Why don’t the kits come with a printed pattern?

Most of our kits are for beginners and we’ve heard from fellow beginner crocheters that following the online video tutorials is the easiest way to learn crochet.

We also try to make our kits as sustainable as possible and not including the paper pattern helps us avoid cutting down more trees.

Either way, if you absolutely need the printed pattern, you can download it from learn.thesnuglies.com and print it out at home.

Can I sell finished items made from your patterns?

Yes, but only in small quantities and you must credit The Snuglies as the creators of the pattern by mentioning and linking back to this website you’re on. You must also use your own photos to sell your work.

Purchases and orders

I need help placing my order. Can I contact you?

If you have any questions or concerns about our products, shipping, or payment for your order, please contact our Customer Service team at orders@thesnuglies.com. If you have already placed your order, please be sure to include your name and order number in your email.

Will I receive confirmation of my order?

Once the checkout process is successfully completed, you will receive an order confirmation email at the email address you provided during registration (if you have a The Snuglies account) or on the checkout form if you are ordering as a guest (check your spam folder if you do not receive this email). If it has been more than a day since you made your purchase and you have not received the email, please contact us at orders@thesnuglies.com

Can I cancel or change my order?

We cannot cancel or change any order that has already begun processing. Please contact us at orders@thesnuglies.com with your order number immediately. NOTE: We do not accept returns on personalised products (colour, model, size or special requirements/features)

I have placed an order but have changed my mind. Can I exchange / return / cancel the order?

We are sorry that you are not happy with your order. In this case, The Snuglies offers the option of returning the products within fourteen (14) calendar days following the day on which you or a third party indicated by you, other than the carrier, acquired material possession of the goods or, in the event that the goods comprising your order are delivered separately, within 14 calendar days following the day on which you or a third party indicated by you, other than the carrier, acquired material possession of the last of those goods. NOTE: We do not accept returns on customized products (color, model, size or special requirements/features)

I have received my order, but it has some defects. Can I exchange or return the item?

If your product is defective, please contact Customer Service at orders@thesnuglies.com and explain what the problem is. Be sure to include your name, order number and a photo showing the defect. Depending on what the problem is with your product, we will replace it with a new one or, if not available, with a product of similar or lesser value. Your feedback is very important to us because it allows us to improve the quality of our products.

I received the wrong item! What should I do?

Email us immediately at orders@thesnuglies.com and we will rectify the situation at no additional cost to you. Please make sure to include your order number and name in the email.

I placed my order more than 4 days ago and I haven’t received any confirmation of payment

If you chose to pay by ‘Credit Card’ or via PayPal, sometimes problems can arise related to payment interruptions. The first thing you should do before contacting our Customer Service is to check if the order amount was deducted from your bank account or if the transfer via Paypal was made. In case the payment has been completed, please write immediately to orders@thesnuglies.com with your name, order number and the transaction ID number that you will find in your bank account.

Do you offer a guarantee on your products?

Please note that the products presented on our website are a careful selection from our collection. We have taken special care to accurately display the colours and characteristics of our products. Of course, each monitor’s calibration is different and we cannot guarantee that your monitor will display colors accurately. The Snuglies offers a 12-month warranty on all of its products from the time of purchase. This includes defects in materials that may cause problems after continued use of the product, as well as defects in material and production under normal use. To process a claim related to the product warranty, we require proof of purchase and images of the damaged product (contact our Customer Service at orders@thesnuglies.com). In the event that we determine that the product does indeed have a defect covered by the warranty, it will be exchanged for an equal product or, if not available, for a product of equal or lesser value. The customer is responsible for shipping and handling costs.

Product Availability

By browsing the website you accept that the products offered by The Snuglies in its online store are subject to stock limits. All orders for The Snuglies products are subject to availability. If a product is not available once the order has been placed, we will inform you as soon as possible. At that time you can cancel your order. The price of the products will be the one stipulated at any time on our website. The Snuglies reserves the right to modify the products offered on the website at any time without prior notice. Such modifications will not, in any case, affect orders for which we have already sent you the Shipping Confirmation.

Purchase Limits

For security reasons, you will not be able to place orders of more than three thousand euros (€3,000) or containing more than 30 items within a period of 15 days. Payment

What are the accepted payment options?

The payment methods accepted by The Snuglies are credit/debit card (VISA, MasterCard and American Express) and payment with PayPal and Stripe. The payment method will be selected during the checkout process. If you choose PayPal payment, when you click on the “Buy” button, you will be redirected to their platform to complete the payment for the order. The invoice amount will be debited from your PayPal customer account once you have received our order confirmation. Credit/debit card payments are handled through Paypal or Stripe. When you click on the “Buy” button, you will be transferred to their platform, where you can fill in your credit card details. Once the payment process has been successfully completed, you will receive an email confirming the order (we recommend that you check your spam folder if you do not receive this email).

Currency, Taxes and Prices

Prices on our website are shown in Euros (EUR – €) for all countries. For current conversion rates, please visit http://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/ to get a rough idea of ​​what the amount would be in your currency. Pursuant to current legislation, all purchases made from our website will be subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) or any other applicable tax or fee based on the country in which the order will be delivered to you. All prices displayed on The Snuglies website are not final until the billing page, which will display the applicable VAT based on the product type and the customer’s shipping address. VAT will be applied to all shipments originating and destined for the European Union, as well as Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (after Brexit). According to Spanish regulations, we are obliged to issue an invoice for orders over €3,000 (tax included). In relation to other destinations, we will adhere to the legislation in force in them. Shipping costs will be added to the purchase summary, before making the payment. The price of the products will be the one stipulated at any given time on our website. The Snuglies reserves the right to change the prices displayed on the site without prior notice. Are my payments secure?

All orders are encrypted with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology both on your end and ours. SSL encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. For SSL to work, you must use an SSL-enabled browser. For your security, we do not store any payment information. Credit card payments are made directly through Stripe – certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, the most stringent certification level, so we can ensure that important information is kept confidential and private.

Do I have to register before I buy?

No, you do not have to register before you buy, you have the option to make a purchase as a guest.

How do I change my email address settings?

To change the email address you log in with or change the email notifications associated with your account, follow these instructions:

In the top right corner of any page you will see a link called “My Account” or your username if you are logged in. Click on this link to access your user profile. Select “Edit Profile”. In this section you can change the email you log in with, the shipping address for orders and specify whether you want to receive emails from The Snuglies.

I forgot my password, how can I get a new one?

It happens to all of us. Just click on “Login” in the header of the website and you can create a new one there.

Can I save my favorites? Where can I see them?

Of course! If you like a product, simply click on the favourites icon (a heart) and it will be automatically saved in your list of favourites, which you can find in your user profile. In the top right corner you will see a link called “My account” or your username if you are logged in. Click on this link to access your user profile. You can also find a direct link in the footer of the website.
